Easy Battery Backup for Sump Pump

I was searching for a backup battery for my sump pump that allows you to directly plug in your current pump. Well luckily Ace Hardware carries just the item. I haven’t found anything else like this on the market, but this provides a simple way to backup your sump pump. Most other devices are a car battery like device that is hooked into a secondary backup sump pump that all has to be installed alongside your current setup. This was a bit too much for me to manage myself.

This battery is super easy to test as well. Just charge up the battery, plug your sump pump into it, unplug the battery from the power source so it is only using battery power, and then dump water into your sump pump basin. You can watch the battery power lights indicate how much power was used to empty your basin. Feel free to run it until the battery dies to get a feel for how many times your sump pump can empty the basin before the battery dies.
