Voting by Mail in Michigan

All registered voters in Michigan have the right to vote by mail. It’s a safe way to vote and protect your health, and the process is secure and accurate.

Due to the passage of the statewide ballot proposal 18-3, all eligible and registered voters in Michigan may now request an absent voter ballot without providing a reason.

Even if you apply to vote by mail, you can change your mind and vote in person instead. Just make sure you only vote a total of one time.

You can fill out your application and then mail or email to your local clerk to get registered. You can even take a picture of your application with your phone and use that as the email attachment. There is also a checkbox on the application to automatically receive applications for all future elections as well.

Once you get your ballots you can mail them in (requires two stamps to mail) or you can drop it off to the local drop box at your local clerk’s office. You are allowed to drop off your ballots anytime between when you get them up to election day. Make sure to read the due dates on your ballot.
